A Milestone for Egypt’s Valuation Profession: Updated Egyptian Valuation Standards

A Milestone for Egypt’s Valuation Profession: Updated Egyptian Valuation Standards

The Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) has announced a comprehensive update to the Egyptian Valuation Standards, marking an important development in the regulation and advancement of the valuation profession in Egypt, 11 years after the issuance of the original standards.

The updated standards represent a significant step toward strengthening valuation practices and bringing them closer to the latest editions of the International Valuation Standards (IVS). They aim to establish a more consistent, transparent, objective, and reliable framework for valuation professionals and market participants across different asset classes.

A Comprehensive Framework for Asset Valuation

Valuation standards provide a professional framework applicable to a wide range of assets, including real estate, machinery, equipment, and other asset categories. Their application supports the consistent assessment of value based on the nature, characteristics, purpose, and relevant market conditions of each asset.

The updated standards address several essential areas of the valuation process, including:

  • General principles and foundations of valuation.
  • Valuation approaches and methodologies.
  • Data and information requirements.
  • Documentation and disclosure procedures.
  • Prevention and management of conflicts of interest.
  • Rights and interests associated with assets.
  • Practical applications, templates, and supporting guidance.

By covering these areas, the updated framework is expected to enhance the quality and reliability of valuation reports while promoting greater consistency and comparability across different valuation assignments and asset types.

Supporting Investment, Finance, and Market Confidence

Reliable valuation standards play a vital role in supporting investment, financing, development, asset management, and related economic activities. Clear and consistent valuation practices help investors, financial institutions, developers, government entities, asset owners, and other stakeholders make more informed decisions.

The updated standards are also expected to contribute to improving the attractiveness and competitiveness of the Egyptian market by reinforcing professional credibility, increasing transparency, and strengthening confidence in valuation outcomes across various sectors and asset classes.

GAT’s Perspective

At Global Appraisal Tech (GAT), we believe that the continued development of the valuation profession depends on strong professional standards, technical excellence, continuous learning, and a firm commitment to integrity and accuracy.

The comprehensive update of the Egyptian Valuation Standards is therefore a welcome and important achievement for the profession. It provides a stronger professional and regulatory reference for valuers and market participants, while supporting the ongoing development of valuation practices for real estate, machinery, equipment, and other assets in Egypt.

GAT extends its appreciation to the Financial Regulatory Authority, under the leadership of Dr. Islam Azzam, as well as Dr. Mohamed Farid, Dr. Rehab Taha, the FRA teams, and all experts and institutions who contributed to this important development.

Special recognition is also due to the Central Bank of Egypt, the Ministry of Investment, and the market professionals and specialists whose efforts supported the advancement of valuation standards and practices.

This milestone reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the valuation profession and building greater trust, transparency, and consistency across Egypt’s markets.
